Merging PDF Files In OSX Lion

OSX LionIf you are like me, you are still trying to get used to using OSX 10.7 Lion. Here is a tip for dealing with PDF files.

If you just want to re-arrange PDF pages in Preview do the following:

1. Open the PDF file in Lion’s Preview application.

2. Go to the Preview menu and select View then Thumbnail.

3. Drag the page thumbnails up or down to arrange the pages in the desired order.

If you want to merge PDF files in Preview, do the following:

1. Open both PDF files in the Preview.

2. Go to the Preview menu and select View then Thumbnail.

3. Now simply drag the pages you want to merge from one document into the other.

  2. The only solution that worked for me (with the help of one-on-one instruction at an Apple Store) was to:
    1) Open a PDF file with Preview and view the sidebar
    2) From Finder, drag and drop files that are to be combined into the sidebar
    3) To save the newly created combined file, you must use the Print command and Save As a uniquely named file
