Google Search Hints

March 12, 2005 – 22:25 pm

We have all tried to do a Google search and ended up with hits listing millions of pages. Then we try to refine the search and we get nothing. Well here are a couple of hints to help with the search.

Google will ignore common words, single letters and single numbers. To include them in the search, enclose them in quotes, for examples: “male and female”.

To search for one item or another use capital OR, for example: male OR female.

Finally, if you place a tilda “~” in front of a word, Google will search for that word and its synonym.
