Make A Change – Get Free Online Shipping
May 28, 2008 – 5:55 amA couple of years ago, I watched a documentary about the use, or rather the lack of use, of mass transit in the United States. One of the social scientists opined that Americans would not change their driving habits until gasoline reached at least $4.00 per gallon (roughly a dollar per liter). At the time, I remember thinking that I would probably never live long enough to test his theory. Little did I know that price of gasoline would begin such a huge march skyward so quickly. Here we are a couple of years later and the price of gas is predicted to reach the $4.00 per gallon mark this summer.
I think it is safe to say that he was right. I started making subtle changes in my my driving habits when gas prices hit $3.00 per gallon. Before I jump in the car, I think about the most efficient way to handle all of my errands in one trip. I also make a lot fewer trips to the mall and I ride my bicycle to run as many errands as possible. I do not think I am the only one who has started making life changes as a result of the high gas prices. People are also having to make tough choices like skipping vacation trips or even changing jobs due to the high cost of automobile travel.
One way to save both time and money is to shop online as much as possible. Of course the downside of online shopping is the cost of shipping. Although the cost of shipping is offset by my gas saving, I still seek out online merchants who provide free shipping so I can save even more.
I recently found a great new website that helps me find free shipping. They list free shipping codes for many popular online stores so make sure you check them out before you make your next online purchase.
