Use Your Music Player As An Educational Tool

Project GutenbergI have always been interested in ideas that put popular tech gadgets to work for educational purposes. I think the iPod is highly underutilized as an educational tool. There are such great possibilities ranging from general audio and video training programs to foreign language practice.

The great thing about the internet is, if you know where to look, there are tons of free audio files all over the place. The tough part is making sure you do not violate someone’s copyright when you download a file.

However, there are places where you can get plenty of free (as in beer), legal audio files, including audiobooks that you can listen to on your MP3 player or computer.

Project Gutenberg has numerous free books that are read by both humans and computer-generated voices. The really great part, from an educational perspective, is the books are available in several languages. You can build your language skills by listening to books in the language of your choice.  Check them out for hours of great free entertainment or education.
