Google Shortens Your Walk

July 16, 2008 – 5:55 am

GoogleGoogle Maps is my first stop when I am going on a trip or trying to find my way to around town. Now, in some areas, they have made it even better by giving walkers and cyclists a hand. If you are fortunate enough be in one of the experimental areas, you can opt for walking direction when you search Google Maps. Unfortunately, I tried it in the Roanoke area but it doesn’t work here.

Its easy to determine if this new option is working in your area. Just click Get directions, enter your location and the location of your destination. After you have your directions, click Walk in the left corner of the screen. The new walker feature should shorten your walk by giving you the most direct route without regard for things like one way streets. Check it out!
