Fixing Word’s Little Nuisances

Word has a lot of great features but there are a few that cause you to just pause and ask, “Why?”. For instance, when you copy and paste something, Word displays the Paste Options button. This gives you the option of changing the formatting. I don’t want to change the formatting. Meanwhile, the button, which is in the way, is difficult to clear.

Another is Word’s ScreenTips. This box pops up when you mouse over a link. It includes the name of the link, which is already in front of you. It also tells you to use the Ctrl key when you click the link. I already know that. The box is so big it sometimes blocks the link.

Well, Marcus, to disable these things, open Word and click Tools>>Options. Select the View tab. Clear the ScreenTips box. Then select the Edit tab. Clear the box next to “Show Paste Options buttons.” Click OK.
